Well my truck is not starting very well at all.

Temperatures are not terribly cold at all, -20*C, -4*F.

New gridheater relay.

My espar is usually on for an hour or so, coolant is at 145*F.

Two brand new GOOD batteries that crank over with great ease.

Fuel pressure is great.

But she will not fire up at all.

Fuel is fine, no gelling.

What gives?

This is so frustrating.

If you have good fuel pressure to the VP44, most likely the issue is with the injection pump itself, or with the injectors...

Always has been in my case at any rate. :{

I had a friend who had a similar problem and his was a check valve or overflow valve of some kind that was allowing air to get into system. It gave him trouble at any temp and he had to bleed his injectors all the time.
I had trouble when I had a leak around a fitting for a fuel pressure gauge that allowed air to bleed in and then again on the fuel filter housing.

"It only seems to happen when it sits for a day or two. "

Check the stock fuel/water separator drain valve (lever). There are a couple of rubber O rings that may leak and let air into the fuel system. I replaced the O rings and she started.

Sounds like a little air is getting in there somehow. Crack the injector lines and bump the starter to get the lift pump to run. Fuel should come out immediately. If it takes a few seconds then you are loosing prime somewhere in the system.

Have you replaced the starter contacts yet? My truck was doing the same thing and eventually got to where I could turn the key but the starter wouldn't engage. It never did the clicking thing like they usually do. I replaced the starter contacts with the heavy duty replacement ones that Geno's sells and it fires up quickly every time now. Had 260k on the truck.

Starter is just fine, no issues with cranking over the engine.

I am now maybe thinking the overflow on the VP44...
