I just got home from the shop @ my work, (had to walk the 5mi home). I was in the process of installing the new throttle cable and found my old one was hanging on by just one thread. But to get to the EMERGENCY part, I got it all put back together, started it up and it is at WOT with the pedal all the way off of the floor. I adjusted the throttle rod as far as I think it is save to go, tried it again, still WOT.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do or did wrong???????????? #ad

It sounds like you got the spring on the cam arm on wrong,it's very easy to do. It's hard to decribe with words how it should go on. You need to look at an other Cummins to see how it looks. If you had an easy time putting the spring back on,it is for sure wrong, that darn spring is by far the hardest part of the whole job. Good luck

Well I finally got it, had to sleep on it. I had to look at another truck to see how it was actually hooked up. I didn't remember that the "ear" on the new bell crank had to go into the little slot on the secondary bell crank that has the throttle rod attached to it. They need slightly better instructions with this part.

Oh well, its done now and I am more knowledgeable because of it.

Mtn Goat,

Did you have trouble getting the spring to go back onto the tabs. I fought with it for a solid hour! The spring has to come around quite a bit before it will hook onto the tab. Pain in the neck!

Mtn Goat,

BTW I was looking into Diamond B 370 HP injectors too.

I decided to try the BullyDog propane system. The price is about the same for each.

Except propane should be good for 100 HP/200+ Ft lbs torque (max setting) The injectors, maybe 40 hp over 215`s.

Also the propane system set in the "economy mode" will add out to 30% more MPG.

The word propane scared me at first. But after reading and talking to HVAC & Bullydog, it seems safe and harmless to the engine.

It seems problems start when the propane kits are "modified" by the consumer to get more HP.

If you are still running your 175/180 stock injectors, the 370`s will be a big improvement. The jump to 370`s from 215`s is good, but not like propane. (I guess)

Hemi,

I had a HELL of a time getting the spring on the first time I tried it, had to use a wire to get it pulled around far enough... I didnt have the "ear" in the slot on the scondarybell crank. I had it in ??front of the secondary, which meant it had to be pulled around about a 1/2" to FAR. Then I got everything back together, started it... WOT with the pedal completely off of the floor...
The second try on the other side of scondary bell crank... still WOT... so I then locked up and walked home. Got on here and asked for some help.
Got up early this morning, rode my mtn. bike to work, on the way saw one of my customers who was driving his 12V, flaged him ofer and discovered that it was supposed to go in the little slot on the secondary bell crank... WALLAA... "it's ALIVE!!!!!" #ad
