my 99 auto won't shift out of first, or at least it fights it to the point that I just drove 3 miles without it shifting despite my efforts.

So will a valve body solve this, or do I have to go with a full new trans right now?

Any suggestions on how to get it to my local shop which is about 40 miles away? (i. e. , is there any way to make it upshift just ONE more time?)

when I did my research DTT was the "cheapest". at least parts wise anyway. you can always have them send you a trans and have a trans shop install it. or see if they have any dealers in your area.

My local shop does DTT. Suncoast and ATS both quoted me in excess of 4200 to ship to my house, while DTT with the local shop quoted me 4200 installed. that makes my decision pretty easy I suppose.

Not sure if he does transmission work or not, but Keith Livingstone has a shop in St. James called Forest City Diesel. His username is Rammin On.

Might be worth talking to him too if you're still in decision-making mode.

Keith at Midwest Performance Diesel in Eureka, MO should have ordered the transmission on Monday. Thanks for the suggestion though. I haven't heard of that guy, and there is an utter lack of diesel shops here in STL. Diesel Werks is never open, and that just leaves Keith, who I like, but it would be nice to get two quotes sometimes.
