Ford Diesel Bronco

Ford 6.0 What A Joke.

Ok, I have had my truck for a year now. First new diesel I have owned. My old '86 Ford 6. 9 was my first.

It is time to renew tags. On my old Ford all I needed to do was carry proof of an emissions test, show the clerk and get my tags.

How does it work on these new ones? The sticker on my windshield says Emissons Exempt but then says something about being good for two years. Is it exempt from the dealer for two years or do I still need to get an emissions test.

I am in Jefferson County, Colorado.

Thanks guys.

When you get the card in the mail to renew your registration, it should say if you are required to get an emissions test. I think you are good for another year.

Thanks

Just called my mom, some of my mail still goes to my parents. Said the renew notice is there and emissions is required. Another $50 to waste!

Thanks!

... On the other hand, I could be wrong.

My wife used to work for the wonderful department in the State of CO that invented the emisions testing. Then went to the DOT, and now were here in AZ.

My thinking is the 2 year thing is only on new vehicles. Since I bought mine used, BUT it still had the tag on the windshield, I assumed it was for me. So I am guessing the tag is old (from factory) and the dealer had it emissioned before they sold it, and now that the first year is up I have to renew again. Makes sense!

Nick:

I got my vehicle emissioned last year at Colorado Diesel for the first time. Bought new and had a 2 year exemption. Anyway they did the test. The sticker still says exempt on the windshield (don't know if it is a new sticker or not) and I don't think I even got a piece of paper to send in with the renewal notice. I don't think I got anything from them because I asked Tyler how it did. He said it did fine, a bit high due to my mods but still well within spec. If I had the report I wouldn't have had to ask how it did. I think they sent in the inspection report. Was definitely a different process than with my old gas truck. All I know for sure is my windshield says exempt and my tags came in the mail no problem.

Nick, the 2 times I have had my truck emissioned I received a statement from the place that did the test with the results that I took to the license plate place with me when I went for the stickers. My truck passed this year with no problems and well within the limits and it is hopped up just a little. You should have no problem. Leave your box off or on the lowest setting.

Thanks guys

Sounds good. I am going to call Colorado Diesel and have them do it. I got a new job at The Wildlife Experience Museum in Lone Tree (Lincoln and 2 lights east of I-25) and drive home 4 or 5 nights a week to my g/f's in the Springs so I will do it there since its on the way.

Thanks for the help.
