For the last 5 years My annual emissions test have usually been in the teens for opacity. One year I was 2% under the limit.

Yesterday got it done and WOW. 100hp injectors, Edge Comp on 1x1, Water/Meth... Ah heck, see signature for the rest. 3% @ 40mph, 4% @ 50mph, 2% @ 60mph. Better than when it was bone stock.

I was sitting outside waiting and heard her on the dyno. Engine, then the distinct turbo noise, then toward the end when they really started to load her down, Squeeeeeeeeeeal. Tires broke loose on the dyno.

Now if I could just find the time to get some HP & TQ numbers.

I know, kind of a pointless thread, I just found the results surprising considering the history of my truck.

I'm jealous! My "visual" opacity was fine, but I'm getting dinged for playing by the rules, and the smog tech does'nt know the rules.

A great example of a Cummins owner saving the planet! Anything seems better than the stock crap that they give us..... good emissions test, Sticks!

jeez over in the west coast they give you guys emissions tests on a diesel truck? I know they started over here with the i think 07 and up model years, but when i go through with my truck they just check safety stuff and thats it. hmmm werid

In Illinois they check semi's for smoke output, anything bigger than a 3/4 ton needs safety inspection every six months. they have not called in yet for my wife's 2005 CRD liberty yet

Yea in de as far as i know they dont do a smoke output test, atleast i haven't had one done, its just safety when it come time to renew my registration.

As of 1/1/10 we have a new law requiring '98 and later diesels under 14k GVWR to be inspected. I'm sure they're working on a way to require all diesels to be smog checked.

"werid"... We rid the world of diesels... . CARB's new motto? I know you meant "weird", but it won't be weird or funny when it comes to your state. California is always leading the way when it comes to these types of regulations, and a lot of states follow suit. #@$%!

I don't know why they call it a smog check. They didn't check the exhaust. They checked the obd thingy. The guy told me they were looking for engine enhancement gadgets anyway i passed

They just started the OBD II check here in southern Idaho. I always have two codes showing as my grid heaters been unhooked since owning the rig. Cleared the codes with ScanGauge and passed with flying colors. The guy doing the test said they're really only looking for CEL issues anyway.
