Had Gasket Sealant OR Not?

Finally getting a new delivery truck....

Nevada (most metropolitan areas) to my surprize, has every year testing for cars and diesels. But the cars are easy and cheap while the diesels are expensive. The diesels have to go through a dyno test looking for smoke, with a devise in the tailpipe.

It’s a dyno test? On rollers? It’s not a basic roadside opacity exhaust stack test?

Yes, Dyno with rollers and what I believe is a Opacity devise they stuff up your exhaust, they have you get up to a certain RPM then step on it for a few seconds. Thats why its more expensive then a auto smog.

The DSNY has a gazillion dollar diesel emission research lab where they do the same thing, but much more scientific. Unreal to put the public through that

Here in RI any OBD1 vehicles still have to hit the rollers for a simulated road trip. Luckily there’s no diesel emissions test. Yet.

The young fella who did my last smog was looking for the CAT and asked if I had a tune although he liked the truck and just may have been curious.
