Have a '99 with 47RE, and an Emjay controller that has been flawless for about 140,000 miles. Recently had an issue with a bad ground, which has since been corrected. At that time of the ground issue, the controller was exhibiting weird characteristics; mostly wouldn't go into overdrive without depressing the OD button on the column/shift lever.
Since then I have not been able to reset (re-write) the old strategies into the Emjay, and in fact it won't even rewrite to the factory defaults. Regardless of what switch position or which strategy chosen, all three positions are the same - overdrive drops in about 60 MPH. A bit too high for 'round-town driving.
By-passing the Emjay with the harness that Mike provided to do so, returns the transmission to stock operation, with no issues. Just drove over 1,000 miles that way, proving that, by process-of-elimination, that it's not a transmission issue. Has to be the controller. (I worked with Mike to resolve the dreaded '98-'99 TC constant lock/unlock at partial throttle around 45-50 MPH. The Emjay controller solved forever that problem. )
Anyone out there have much experience with troubleshooting the Emjay controller? It's been flawless, and a great asset to towing. I'd like to continue with it.
Otherwise, if it's history, and time to move on, any suggestions? I believe that Mike was selling his controller to ATS for their private label sale before he passed away... anyone with experience there?
Need to do something!
Thanks -
