I have had the emjay controller for some time now and can say that its not only a cool toy but also a very usefull one. It is so handy to be able to change the characteristics of the transmission with the flip of a switch. You have 3 settings. I have mine set for normal, loaded, and racing. The things I like best are... .

1. set lockup and unlock at different speeds

2. enable and disable overdrive at different speeds

3. change shifts points based on speed and or throttle possition.

4. control of an exhaust brake

All these features in one box. What more could you want

Stake,

I have a couple questions about it, if you need to change the setting do you need a laptop or computer, or is it adjustable like the DTT Smart Controller with a screwdriver on the fly? Once you have installed and adjusted the box do they (EMJAY/ATS) have you do pressure tests to make sure that it is adjusted properly or do you go by seat of the pants?

The features that you have listed seem very similar to the DTT Controller, it can:

1. Enable and disable overdrive at different speeds

2. Control of an exhaust brake

3. All truck from the factory shift point change based on throttle position. The harder you push the later it shifts.

4. The DTT Smart Controller lock-up and unlock points are controlled based on throttle position and vehicle speed.

What is the big difference between the boxes other than one can be adjusted by a laptop and the other with a screwdriver. Emjay can make the truck shift earlier, so can anyone with a voltage regulator for $25. We just don't encourage it because it could be hard on your transmission. They sound pretty similar.

I don't know about anyone else, but that sounds a little dangerous to me. You might want to pull off to the side of the road to make an adjustment. The ATS box has a knob that is easily adjusted with one hand "on the fly".

The harder you push the later it shifts.

C'mon... a stock truck does that. Seems to be a stretch of a box's features.

Yes, you do need a computer/laptop to change the profiles. How many different settings can you change with the flip of a switch? Pressure test for what? The supposed bind up that happens on your truck?

I can't compare the 2 controllers because I have never had a DTT smart controller.

StakeMan,

Glad to hear that you like it. I bought one a few weeks ago but I have yet to get it on the truck.

I guess I was too busy getting other things taken care of.

I am very interested to see how it responds to a modified trans.
