I'm going to a dealer next week to get my high idle enabled on the truck, no reflash of the ecm or anything like that, do you guys think it will be ok to leave the TST hooked up, dealer is bomb freindly, I just don't want their gadget to affect the TST.
It is selectable with the cruise control, 1100 is the base then variable to 1500, the problem is my engine has a build date after 12/10/03, the original TSB was for engines with a prior build date than this but we're gonna see if this feature is in the 600, I don't know what they're gonna charge me. There shouldn't be a charge if your engine falls within the TSB guidlines.
i just had this done on the truck I bought for my employer I made them throw it in as part of the deal but they wanted to charge me $100 and it's so easy to do if those drb tools were only cheaper! n e way this truck is a 600 and the feature works great I found a service bulletin on this site Tuesday here is the link http://www.portjeff.net/df5152/tsb_1800404.htm I just took this with me and told them to follow the instructions. I think I read in the manual that the cold start like that on the 24valves is already enabled i also had them change the tire size to account for the larger tires i had the dealer install.
Well, went to the dealer today, they hooked the little magic black box to the truck and went through the steps and enabled the high idle and it says it's enabled but it doesn't work. He said he had others that wouldn't work, he has called Cummins in the past and they said some of the scripts were different which there is supposed to be no way to change. There's always a way but that stuff is above me.
sorry to here about that you would think for 35k+ they could get some consistency this maybe the explaination of why some trucks get better fuel milage i wonder what else these "scripts" affect????????
Yeah, these "scripts' probably control a lot of stuff, it's a shame there's probably only a handful of people that really know what's going on inside the ecm.
