Next week I'm getting my truck serviced and will have the dealer enable my high idle (clutch switch wire on PCM to ground done). What should I expect to pay to have this enabled? Would it be cover under warranty? My truck is still under the 36/36 bumper to bumper warranty.

Thanks,

Earl

The dealer might not know how to do it. Tell the tech to enable the PTO and they shouldn't charge you for it. Ask if there are any "flashes" for your truck and once they hook up the interface/STAR unit, ask them to enable the "PTO".

One more time,hi idle is available with a manual trans

Install clutch up-stop switch P/N 05026273AB. This switch is also called the "Switch - Clutch Interlock / Upstop". Most trucks do not have the 6-way connector included in the dash wiring harness. The two wires are un-terminated. The matching connector for use with the switch is P/N 05102412AA. This connector is not included with the switch kit and must be ordered seperately.

Find someone with a smarty and download a program and then take it off and you will have the idle enabled.

My local dealer wanted to charge me 1 hr and claimed he would have to do all updates.
I said no thanks.
I dont mind the labor charge but the updates will screw up other things for sure.

Dealer installed latest flash (at my request) and it didn't change anything on my truck or at least make any changes that could be noticed.

if you have a manual trans you have to ground pin# 22on the ecu... i think its the plug 60 not 50 any way it the one closest to the fire wall. there is no wire in the hole so you need to order it. the cummins wire stub is pn#3164263 then ground it to the bolt that mounts the ecu to the block an have the pto enabled an you should be good to go. 900-1500rpms... set cruise to ON an use the ACCEL an DECEL to raise an low rpm. this is for the 5. 9s not 6. 7s. 6. 7 wire is in the fire wall some where?

i think the smarty does a 3cyl high idle. read about it some where here last year. going to call them tomorrow an find out if so im going to pick one up tomorrow from my local diesel shop... been fighting w/ the dealer in town they said thereno such thing an i thold them what to look under in ther starscan..... any way wanted a reason to buy a smarty for awhile now. tha

Can any one clarify this a little more. Maybe a definite on the plug and the pin? I have my high idle enabled, but was told I don't have the correct clutch up switch. 2 wire instead of 3 wire. I don't have a problem installing a terminal into my ecu plug, it looks like it is just a duetsch socket that is in that side of the plug. The numbering on the plug itself is also slightly difficult to follow. As I understand it, pin #22 is in the 2nd row from the top and the 3rd one over from the left. Am I correct? Is there any where that has a diagram for the ecu plus that I could look up somewhere. I do not have a manual that has said diagram.

Thanks

Thanks! Thats exactly what I was looking for as far as the diagram.

Now I just need to verify for sure that it is pin #22. I just want to be sure of what I am doing, it is the ecu after all, and I would prefer to not screw that thing up if I can help it.
