I am in the process of a bunch of front end mods and am looking for a place that has energy suspension sway bar bushing kit #5. 5126R (red) in stock. And what dia. is our sway bar, I used digital calipers and got 34. 1mm but the part # is for 32mm. Those of you that have them do they come in red? I went to a couple local shops who said they order through 4wheelparts and there is no such thing as red for our truck??? One place quoted me $49 bucks sounds a little high. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Also does the end links come complete with this kit or are there just replacement bushings? Thanks to all... ... . :D

Our sway bars (on 2500s and 3500s with the CTD) are the larger one of the two. I purchased this kit a few months ago.

But...

if you have a DSS (Darin Steeing Stabilizer) the two front Energy Suspension mounts cannot be used. There isn't enough clearance between the DSS and the sway bar due to the increased "height" of the "new" bar center line. That is, the distance from the bottom of the OE sway bar rubber mount to the bottom of the sway bar itself is smaller than the Energy Suspension counterpart... by at least 1/4", maybe even as much as 3/8".

Does that help? :D

BTW, I purchased the Energy Suspension sway bar kit for $22.

The kit consists of:

2 urethane front bushings

2 steel front bushing mounts (zinc dicromate finish) with zerk fittings

4 urethane bushings (for the end links)

4 steel steel caps (also zinc dicromate finish) for each of the urethane bushings

The colors available are (at least): red and black.

Here is pic of the DSS and Energy suspension's bushings and mounts. They seemed to fit ok. Had to loosen the end links to push the bar back to line things up. Maybe there are slight differences on '94's and '98's?

note: Outside & inside of truck still looks almost brand new. 8 winters of road salt is rough on the undercarriage. :) Now I wish Darrin had powder coated the DSS instead of paint.

Dwayne, I answered your PM...

but then again, you already knew that. :D

Bill (Hemi), there must be some difference. I have the larger of the two sway bars used on Dodge Rams although, I kind of figured they used the smaller one on 1/2 ton (only) trucks.

I also have the first gen. DSS (angled box tube ends, no powder coat... from DSS anyway... :D ). The Energy Suspension front mounts (as you illustrated) will not fit without significant alterations. The "bottom" of the urethane blocks (one each side) would have to be decked by at least 1/4"... maybe as much as 3/8"... guessing, as I installed my DSS a couple of months ago. Then, the metal retaining " straps (with zerk fittings) would have to be shortened at each end with the mounting legs re-welded to the U-shaped straps. For as flimsy as I thought the Enegry Suspension steel straps were when compared to their OE counterparts, I'm glad I did in fact decide to throw my OE steel mounts in with my other front end accessories to have powder coated. :D

Sounds good

Thanks John for the help. I figured I'll have to do some modifying, you think that other people would chime in with this problem unless there not using the combination of the two DSS-Energy suspension bushings. Anyway everything is on the way. Later Dwayne:cool: :D
