Recently a strange noise was occuring at idle, it sounds like the engine choke is trying to engage then shuts down. This happens at about every 10 seconds. When I get out to listen to the engine, I can't pinpoint the noise. The sound is louder inside the cab. Anyone ran into this before

Dad-blamed Dodge!!! I hadn't even noticed that!!!

Among everything else they left off the 2002's, now I find out that my truck doesn't have a CHOKE!!!!

Welcome to the TDR

Here is a wag. If your A/C has low pressure, it will keep cylcling in an attempt to maintain pressure. It will do this at all times when the engine is running, keeps the system lubed or something to that effect. If you hear a loud click, it is the clutch on the ac compressor.

Thanks, no choke is used by Dodge since about 1989.

It could be the heater grids kicking on.

Have the batterys checked too.

I agree with the previous posters, the "choke" is not the culprit. I think you are listening to the A/C clutch myself. Watch the clutch while you are hearing the noise. You can tell if it is going in and out. If not look into the heater grid. Good luck with this sticky item.
