I have a 01 with 40k miles and look at sign for mods. Latley when I start the truck it over rev's and the check engine light comes on. I was wondering if any on eles has expierenced this before. I only does it for a split second the runs fine. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Once, if I understand you properly. I started my truck and it accelerated instantly as if I had the pedal floored. I managed to turn it off before any obvious engine damage, but it sure was odd. I haven't bothered saying anything to the dealer, as I'm sure if they don't see it, it isn't happening as far as they're concerned.

if the governor is working, you can't over rev it by throttling it. the only way to over rev it [with the governor working] is to downshift and bring the rev's up like that. that little b-series can spin at the governor all it wants and not do damage [but no one really wants to though. . ]. the only damage that could happen is if the engine and oil were super cold. you could spin a bearing then. .

I suggest

taking it to the dealer. It should have stored a code if it lit the check engine light, and they should be able to connect their DRB and see it. This at least registers your complaint with Chrysler, and future problems might be traceable to the code complaint. Get a receipt for the code complaint with your signature on it and you have CYA.
