engine block paint

What paint does Dodge use on their Cummins blocks. It is that charcoal color. I don't think it has to be very high temp resistant. I just want to touch up the timing cover and some of the other parts while I have the engine exposed. Thanks,

its a a gloss black paint , you could buy bbq black paint if you like

There is an actual cummins PN for the paint. I don't remember what it is but I do remember finding it just weeks after I painted my block with generic!

Thanks, I don't think I'll make the trip to the Cummins shop so the generic will do fine. I'm not that much into authenticity, I just want to clean it up a little.

Donovan, it is a charcoal coclor, called bluke. Most use a gloss black that you can get most anywhere.



There are engine paints. You can find then at most any auto parts store. I use DupliColor Ceramic Engine Enamel (500°) No. DE 1613. This is for the engine, NOT the exhaust system. For that you'd need exhaust paint.

Here are the official Cummins colors and p/n's for spray bombs. I used Aprex Red and Bracket Black on my 03 when I rebuilt it. I don't like Bluke as it has the sun faded black look. Shadrach

I've used "official Cummins" marine white in the past meaning it had a Cummins label on it.



Crappy paint IMO. Some of the wrst I have ever used.

I'd take a can of Krylon or Rustoleum any day over that paint.



Hopefully some of the other colors are better.

Its CUMMINS BLUKE 3885611. It is a very hard paint when applied as directed. I sprayd the front end of my truck, the spring towers a couple years ago, and it has lasted very good, no rust showing as with the KRYLONS etc did. I even sprayed the Ice cube maker with it. It worked very good for that to, but replaced it because I did not know if it would be TOXIC or not so the old one is just sitting.
