I have a 95 CTD 2500 2 wheel drive with automatic trans. I recently bought a Chrysler engine brake that is for a manual trans. Can this unit be adapted to my truck? What mods will I need to do? Thanks in advance for the help Bill Z in rainy Portland Oregon.

You will need either a autolock, torquelock or wire in a mystery switch. You could then later add a set of 60# exhaust springs and bump the pressure up for more braking performance.

Without some way to keep the torque converter locked the exhaust brake is virtually useless. The "Mystery Switch" is the cheapest way. Once the TC control circuit has been opened, there are a number of ways it can be used for control.

I have a DTT transmission and I have found that by adjusting the TPS voltage I can get the TC to stay locked up when the foot is lifted from the accelerator. It stays locked until the RPM gets down around 1000. It is a real handy feature.

I never tried it on the stock 47RH though. Bill at DTT would know if that would work.

Getting the TPS adjusted to the necessary voltage is the trick. It can be done though. It was discussed extensively here on the forum.

You will need the 60# exhaust springs, especially if you are going to be towing heavy loads.
