Does any body know if cummins has a 600 series 5. 9 engine in a

offroad or marine application that is not using the third pulse injection?

My thinking is if they do and it's compatable with our engines, this may be

the only true way to get the MPG back that the first gen's had. I don't

know enough about the different 5. 9 engine applications in offroad use to

know for sure. If any body has any ideas please let me know. THANK'S

I'll bite. A 600 without the 3rd injection would be the 03/04 engine. To get back to the first gen or early 2nd gen engines requires losing the computers completely. It all started in late 98 with the 24 valve and electronic pumps. Simple is gone. George

more or less;) an isb[e] in medium duty application is governed at 2600rpm and rated at 275hp/660trq. the marine qsb[e] is governed at 3000rpm and rated at 420hp. the engine would run when rewired with one of those ecm connected to it, but your truck might not run. the interface to the vehicle won't be compatable [instrument cluster won't work] and if you got an auto, the transmission won't work as on the 600 engines, the engine ecm is also controlling the auto transmission. on the 555's there was a separate pcm controling the transmission.

I appreciate the reply to my question. Prehaps sombody will develop a replacment

computer that we can adjust all performance parameters. Realy I would love to alter

the pulses so that the overall MPG would improve. If anybody has a G56 transmission with

a gear vendors overdrive I would like to know if there mileage increased.
