Engine coolant additives

Does anyone know or use any types of coolant additives in their systems?

I've read that additives are only neccessary in sleeved engines and the 5. 9 CTD is not sleeved. Can't hurt, but I don't know if they do any good.

I use RMI-25 in all my engines.

Would need to buy quite a bit of that stuff to treat one of these beasts... that and I haven't seen the " blue" WW for quite some time. the blue stuff used to be specically for diesels, IIRC.

SO you add it to your coolant every 15,000 miles it says??? Does it just burn off in between then>??>

I buy it by the quart, use 1/2 qt in each of my Rams, qtr bottle in my gasser powered pieces, icluding the race cars. Radiators stay nice and clean, service the Rams about every 50k or so, always spotless when I do service them.

I have a bottle of red line pro strength "super cool" w/ water wetter 12 fluid ounces but my truck has some kind of coolant installed by the factory that is supposed to be good for 100K miles/5 years... I don't know if I should use it though..... If anyone has info re: additives for the cooling system I would sure like to know... truck lately is up a little in temp, thought that this might help.
