Driving from Denver to MissoulA MT. 2 strange things happened. 1st the hose between the turbo and intercooler came off. I reseated it and its held for 400 miles. I figure I should replace it? Does anyone know the Dodge dealer up here? I am hoping he stocks it.

2nd I was crossing the divide and the engine acted like I turned off the key It would not restart So I got out and checked under the hood. Did nothing and 5 minutes later it restarted and has gone 350 miles with out incident but the check engine light is on and the code shown is P 1693 which says DTC detected in ECM/PCM any ideas what may have caused this and and am I taking my chances going home on Tuesday?

Thanks for any insight.

seems there is a bulletin on the p1693, a software update. i found it online while back.

You need to find that link and get it posted.

On the Dodge Ram with the Cummins, PCU - P1693 is a companion code, and all it means is that there has been a code set in the ECU, Nothing more, no reflash, no reprograming, no software update needed.

At least that is what those of us have been dealing with since we got our trucks. So if you can find that info and get it posted for us, that would be great. If there is indeed a program or software update that we need to be aware of...

looking around for the bulletin i checked on iatn board that we use at work alot. looking for a dodge generated bulletin but could find nothing on it. although i found 2 post in there that were right up the alley but both had to replace the vp to fix the issues, i would think there has to be connector issues myself but luckily i have yet to have trouble with mine,

if i find that software update ill post it, i may have been thinking of another but could have swore it was for the 1693 code, i have more info on my shop pc then i do here at home.

Thanks for the info. I am going to try to get a spare hose and I havent had anymore troubles so I will investigate the 1693 when I get home.

If you are having difficulty finding boots/clamps at the dealership(ripoffship) you should try a semi truck repair shop. When I blew a boot off, I lost the clamp somewhere aways back amid all the gray smoke. By the time I quit laughing at my own "fog bank" that just rolled in from out of nowhere, I stopped in a truck shop and they had several in stock. When I finally replaced the deteriorating boot it took a couple days to order and I think it was about $40. Didnt even want to know what dodge would want for one. Jordan
