I got my cummins chrome kit on the other day except for the heater lines and I will do those this weekend but I need to re-touch the paint on the top of the engine. Does anyone know where I can get some paint to match the motor? Is that a cummins thing or? Also have any of you guys used that high temp exhaust manifold paint or do I just need to have things HPC coated?

The original paint is "proprietary" from what I understand...

It is a mix of blue and black and it is called 'bluke' of blook or however they spell it.

The high temp. paint does not last long on the exhaust manifolds. I have used this in a few "show & shine" contests. It only lasts a few months if running too high EGT's when pulling heavy loads in high altitude country. The best way is to have the manifold ceramic coated. The only problem is the manifold must come off.

BushWakr is right on the engine block color. It goes under three names, Cummins Bluke, Blew-Noir Cummins & Azul Negro Cummins. The pt# is 3885911 and can be purchased at any Cummins agency.

Dfeland,

Were you able to find a chrome air inlet horn? I have not been able to find anything but a second gen horn. Didn't want to get into changing the intercooler lines also so I haven't done the horn yet. Was thinking of having it and the metal intercooler lines powder coated or maybe chromed if I can't find a chrome one.

I have the valve covers, heater lines and alt bracket in chrome so far.

Oh man you guys are killing me... ... I can't keep the outside clean let alone worry about under the hood. :{

The only chrome that I could get was the above mentioned alt,valve cover and heater lines. I went ahead and got it becuase I would guess that at some point they are going to discontinue them. A chrome intake would be very nice, I wish they made them. I think that my plan for now is to get some facotry color paint and redo the top of the motor(everything else is nice) and then have the exhaust manifold HPC coated. Of course that will mean that I will have to get an ATS as soon as I get the guts to spend the money. At the same time I am going to get the exhaust side of the turbo done. My project for this weekend is to take the compressor housing off and polish it. Oh yeah my truck just turned 150,000mi yesterday, as it rolled over I thought to myself how amazing it was that the engine does not have a single oil leak. I have owned the truck for two years and the only leaks that it had were where the yoke goes on the t-case there was oil seeping from between the yoke and splines. And then last week when I got home the rear pinion started to leak so yesterday I put a new yoke and seal and that stopped that. I think that the only reason that it started to leak is because it sat for 10months while I was deployed. Out of all the vehicles that I have owned this truck has been by far the best. With all those miles and original engine, trans, t-case, and front and rear ends you just can't beat it.

A good metal polishing shop can polish the air intake horn for you. I had this done. The only thing is, after awhile it gets kinda dull and you have to use "Mothers polish" or the like to brighten it again. If I had it to do it over, I would go the chrome way. Its less work.
