Is it possible to remove the vacuum pump and replace it with an engine driven air compressor? Switcher trucks use our B's in them and they run air brakes. You can get an electric vacuum pump like phord uses and run your 4WD and cab vents with it (Hydroboosted brakes only) Anyone see one yet?

Good question... ... . I have been dreaming about the same thing. I have a need for air and currently have 2 Peterbilt air tanks under the box in front of the rear tires. I fill them with a 12v compressor that I got from a place in Az. A direct drive compressor would be much better. Just like a big truck. If you put it in there, would the pwr steering pump go back on the rear and still work? Here's hopeing. LaserBob

Since my old rig doesn't have air I'm using the A/C pump to pump air. You just need an oil trap in the discharge to catch the small amount of oil that is expelled. It even has an electric clutch that works great off a pressure switch. All automatic just like the shop compressor. Put it on and forgedaboudit. #ad

Ah, but youse guys with them there fancy newfangled rigs gotta have that cool air, right? #ad
