Engine has a Odd Sound.

My check engine light comes and goes and the dealer clears it if I take it in but it normally goes off after sitting over night. Now my engine has an added sound best describbed as the sound a chain would make if dangled over a pully or flywheele as its spinning. Is this normal for an overworked 04. 5 with 55000 miles?

The dealer said they would let me know when they have a cure for the Check Engine light (High pressure comman rail) but not to worry because they dont think it is causing any damage.

They also tell me that they dont think it has any relation to the chip and not to worry about pulling all that stuff to bring it in because they all have one on theirs and they dont care if it's chipped or not.

04. 5 Edge w/juice, K&N intake, and Mopar injectors that the dealer sends out and has something special done to them and they gave them to me for my troubles.

He has a mod freindly dealer and you are telling him to find a new one??



I say give the dealer a little time, drive the truck easy until you/they figure out what is funky, and stick with that dealer unless you are pretty sure they are inept. And let us know what you find out.

Went by my dealer today and the sound I was hearing is a possible fuel knock. They are going to reflash my computer and check the injectors and CP3 to make sure they are performing properly. Just before I started hearing the knock I topped my fuel tank off with Bio- so I had 1/2 a tank of regular fuel and 1/2 tank of the lowest grade Bio. The Tech at the dealer said replace the filter and dont run bio anymore-- He said Bio isnt recomended by DC.

Man, which dealer do you go to? Are they local, and willing to find the problem with a modified engine?

I left the truck at the dealer today and they replaced the tranfer pump and fuel filter and were hoping that that was the the cause for the check engine light.
