Looks stronger than mine

WW - That one looks stronger than mine which was a much older one. I don't remember where mine came from but I believe mine was only a 750lb rating which is OK for a small block engine.

I used it last year to install a bare 454 Chevy big block, (I think the weight was around 700 lbs - no transmission), in a '67 Chevelle I was working on. The links in the chains pulled apart at the link welds. I got the motor in without incidence however, but I recommend a getting some quality chain if in doubt. I wouldn't necessarily trust the ratings on some of the "Chinese" quality units. When in doubt use a heavier unit.

You might want to make sure that you allow the main hoist chain with the hook to fall all the way down instead of wrapping around the boom like that. What people will do to make a picture look better.

I still use the tried & true 3/8 chain.

I have the exact same thing that I bought from HF, used it to put the 4BT in the Willys. The problem with that design is that the threaded block that moves, all of the angluar forces are taken up in the screw. Once you have it tilted it's harder than stuff to move. That block needs four rollers to take the binding off of the screw.

i welded a comealong to my hoist near the back and run a pulley by the main chain point, i can chain the engine loose on the back and tight on the front and use the comealong to take up the slack on the back chain, if i need to drop the back end like to get a engine/transmission combo out i let out some cable till the back end drops to whatever angle i need, and when it's out i can suck it back in and level it back up, ill try to take a picture if i can remember, been using this for years and wouldn't have it any other way, tried one of those leveling bars and hated it so i came up with this, maybe it works better on v8s as it didn't work worth a crap on bmw I6s and volvo I4s, been hanging on the wall for atleast 7 years

I'm still waiting for the motor to be put back together, Scheids now has it.



The machine shop near me took off 30 thousands, & said were are done with it.



Scheids is now trying to find out if it can be used.



Where can I get a new block, if I need one ?

here she is, it's welded to spacers that hold it at a perfect angle so i don't need to worry about holding it in place till it has enough weight on it but it can work just hooked to the back of the boom, but it's hard on the comealong as the angle that it sits at squashes it into the boom, i hole sawed the bottom of the boom for the rear chain to drop down though and i used the normal front mount for the pulley's chain
