I’ve read about this happening before on this site, but I don’t recall who it happened to.

Wow, you would think those numbers would be hard programmed and non resetable. Anything noticeable over the last 24 miles?

I seem to recall this being mentioned before too but don't recall the particulars. I'll be watching this to see what happens.

Cheers, Ron

comrade ron - nothing noticable. truck seems fine. forgot to mention its a 18 2500 tradesman. i was just seeing what the oil life was and scrolled past the idle screen and then noticed the hours " missing. " only time since march i have opened the hood is to check oil and add washer fluid. no jump starts etc... another reason i am glad i bought a mopar extended warranty in march. it seems like dodges and rams are good trucks but electronics go whacko after awhile. ( my 02 2500 runs great. nothing works on it anymore ) cheers, chris

I think one of GSBrockman's trucks did that, among others I have read about. There doesn't seem to be rhyme or reason for it, just a "feature".

My drive hours religiously resets itself EVERY 1,092 hours.

I am now on my third iteration, so I must now calculate my drive hours like this:

(1,092*3) + current hours
3,276 + 895
4,171

My idle hours remain unaffected. My 2014 NEVER did this, and I see lots of complaints with other 2018 owners as well.

A service writer at a trusted RAM dealership I frequent hooked up the WiTech and said that correct and total hours were still in the PCM.

Apparently......the cluster forgets that it can’t count over 1,092.

Cousin Eddie says it best:

Every time Catherine would rev up the microwave, I'd piss my pants and forget who I was for about half an hour.

I pay good attention to everything going on on the different screens on my truck. I’ve never noticed a change in engine hours, but my idle hours randomly jump all over the place. I bought the truck new and every time I get in it, I always check the tire pressure screen and hours screen before I take off. Some days, the idle hours will be less than the day before. Other times, they will be hundreds of hours higher than the day before. But, most days it settles back to a “normalish” number which I think is still too high being I’ve never let the truck idle.

Another weird thing, since my truck was new, the odometer does not role to the next number while rolling from .9 to .0. It has always rolled to the next number when it’s somewhere between .5 to .8. It may not seem like a big deal, but you’d think after all the years of making odometers they could at least get that right.

Yeah, as I recall the speed of light is 186,300 miles per second, not miles per hour...so really just 1/3600 of the speed of light. Sorry.

Ahhh... You got us! +1 for Frost

671,000,000mph would be the correct number.

So bizarre, yet predictable.

What’s with the coolant symbol? Engine off?
Low coolant condition, erroneous in nature. Replaced the sensor in the tank when my nephew and I changed out the shocks, since we dropped the wheel well liners. Still on with new sensor, and there’s no issue with pins in the connector or wiring, at least to the naked eye.

One guy suspects that replacing the reservoir will fix it, as possible sediment in the tank perhaps is contributing to the erroneous light...

update - finally took truck in for service. the engine hour thing was on my list to get fixed. the service writer called me and said that the real hours are still being collected and that there is no fix for this at this time. also said ram is aware of the issue and that its common. i dunno,im just passing along what he told me. cheers comrades! :)
