HELP !!

On start up, not nec cold but engine cold where it's been sitting overnight or all day, runs rough. Feels like a gasser with bad plug(s) or wire(s) seems to smooth out after driving. Can restart it and it seems fine. I know it's coincidence, or at least I hope, but it started a few days after cat delete installed - posted before as a cold weather issue with no responses but it's warmer here now 40-60 range and it's not a cold temp issue, more of just engine cold issue.

My '06 just started doing it too. Rolled 10,000 miles up on it last week, never did it before. Like the previous post, acts like a gasser with a plug wire off. Soon as I start driving it smoothes out. Still stock. I did put some injector cleaner it the last tank fill up. Thought maybe that had loostened up some deposits.

I have had this issue before too on my 04. 5. It seems to be carbon build-up on the injector tips. This happens when you don't tow much or never load it down heavy. What I do when this starts happening is run it down to about a 1/4 tank of fuel and dump a can of Sea Foam in it then "drive it like you stole it. " I live near some mountains so I usually do a few runs up and down the mountain pushing it pretty hard. This is usually unloaded. I don't have anything to tow yet, but I am hoping to change that soon ;) This usually clears mine up immediatly. I would try Sea Foam before going back to the dealer or anything like that. Also in the winter here I load up some concrete blocks in the bed for traction and it also seems to help keep things running smooth as an added benefit.
Hope this helps.

I thought I would include this as well. I started using PS (grey bottle) mixed with MMO. I use 20 oz Aqufina bottles since they seal nice and thight and don't leak all over the inside of my truck. I mix about 12 oz PS and 8 oz of MMO. This combo seems to work pretty good. It replaces the lubrication lost with ULSD along with helping stabilize the fuel. I also picked ~1MPG. I haven't had the ticking come back either. If you have a timing box though, you may want to play with the mixture since it boosts the cetane level and you might get some increased timing rattle when it is cold.

I use Power Service silver bottle as well. 16oz per full tank. Runs like a CHAMP! The key to cleaning the injector tips,,, operating temp and RPM above 2,000 for an extended duration. Keep the RRR's up. Sea Foam is probably the best cleaner on the market. Do just like the above post, and run it hard. The ticking etc, will clear up. You can also add 16-20Oz's of MMO or Lucas Fuel additives as well.

Don't know about the Sea Foam but I second the opinion on driving it hard to clear the rough idle up. Cured mine.

I drive it like I stole it regularly ans seemed to have an increase in rough starts recently (past month) this winter weather. like I have been told "hurry up every chance you get". maybe the stick I had on the back window that i found it a walmart birthday card better describes my driving "I'm not speeding, I'm qualifying". If my house were to be robbed while I went up the road the theives would be able to hear me coming from over a mile away. I have people calling me up telling me they heard me drive by even through though they were like 3/4 a mile away from where i drove by. Thats how I drive and I honestly think driving it like I stole isn't helping my problem.

Use some Power Service diesel kleen, I use the Seafoam in my outboard and quit using it in the truck after a member here informed me it contains isopropyl alcohol. Read the MSDS on it 10-20% alcohol. Anyhow I had the same symptoms on my 05 and used a heavy dose of PS and it has cured it so far. In addition to running rough it smoked at startup and cleared up in about 15 sec. hopefully it's just a dirty injector.
