Archived engine lght/ surging

Having trouble with truck, engine will occationaly surge and tach will flutter and fall to zero with engine check light coming on. After a short time truck will run normal again but light will stay on. any help?

Sounds like the Camshaft position sensor. I believe thats what 2k and up uses. 99 and earlier used crank position sensor. Someone will correct me if I am wrong. My 99 did the same thing when the crank sensor went bad. I believe it was a $40. 00 part.

try unpluggin the MAP sensor from the intake. could be bad. .
