To say I am irritated about having the engine light come on at 3300 miles would be an understatement. Happened up in Yellowstone which is a long ways from anywhere. Anyway, drove the truck back to Cody and made it so that is good. How do I check to see what codes are being thrown and what they mean?

Jason

P. S. Got 19 miles per gallon (empty) round rip on my way to Jackson and back so that was very exciting!

To check what codes are being thrown, cycle the ignition three times within 5 seconds, on, off, on, off, on. "On" being the position before the engine cranks. The codes will be displayed one at a time on the instrument panel. If there are multiple codes they will be separated by ---------, and "done" will be displayed once the last code has been given. Have a pen handy and write fast.

You can find the code descriptions at the following links. The second is a dodge caliber site but I think all the dodge codes are the same.

The code is P 245 A. Apparently this has something to do with the EGR. Guess I will have to take it in on Monday and get it figured out...

Sometimes brand new vehicles have false MIL that come and sometimes they are fixed by a simple re-flash

Interesting that the light went out by itself before I had a chance to take it in. I will still probably drop it by and see what they say at the dealership.

my truck had the same deal... . at yellowstone.

CEL came on tried to have it checked out in Bozeman, but they were to busy, on to Livingston. . too busy. Finally the guys at Billings took a look and it was the bypass cooler. They reset it, but as he fiddled with the module the thing would throw the same code "Bypass Cooler open".

finally he said it was reset but he couldn't actually fix anything. He thought the module would have to be replaced.

sure enough later that day the CEL came back on.

Over the next two weeks it would come on, stay on all day then go out again for a day or two, then come back on.

We are back from our trip but I,m back at work and cant get time off to have it looked into further. the light has not come back on for a week now.

The Tech said he expects to see a recall for this problem and for injectors.

BTW, I had the 18-0033-07 reflash done before the trip

just under 11,000 miles and I love the way this thing Tows!!

That's interesting. I don't think I've read anything on the TDR about injector problems.

Glad your happy with your truck!

Yeah we haven't heard anything about injector problems either on these new 6. 7's, demand is only 7 per week comaired to 81/week for the 04. 5-07 5. 9 injectors? I know we haven't touched an injector here.

Don't understand: If you haven't touched one,... where does the 7-per-week demand come in?

Engine light came on today: P2000 and P2299. Only 1300 miles. Hope that this is not the begining of a nightmare. I traded in a 2003 HO that I was very happy with!

P2000 is a known issue, there may be a flash coming out this week that will help out. Another way to help this code out is to remove the O2 sensors, blow air in the center hole (to clean) and then wipe with a dry cloth.

P2299 is "Brake and throttle conflict" aka 2 footed driver fault. This is usually driver induced - driving w/ 2 feet.

Hope the info helps.
