I never noticed before, maybe I'm going nuts but when I turn the key to the on position before starting the engine the engine light flashes, I thought before it was on but not flashing. When I start the truck the light goes out. OK am I loosing it.

Thanks,Rob.

I read on another site where this is completely normal. How long does it take you to crank from the time you turn the key on?? If it is more than 10 seconds or so, the light will flash. This happens every time I change my fuel filter. When I leave the key on to let the filter canister refill before bumping the starter it begins to flash. ANd like you say, goes out when you start! Hope that helps!

This is exactly right. Given the cold temps in some areas and around here, it's taking 20 seconds or more before I can crank her over due to waiting for the grid heater to shut off.

Thank guys. It is about -5 F ,-10 wind chill. My truck never fails to start with only a couple second crank. Its parked in a heated garage all night but it will set in cold all day and still start almost instantly but this is when I first noticed the flashing engine light. After about a 10 min. drive home I shut the truck off and restarted it and no flashing light. I'll check for codes tomorrow. Thanks, Rob.

I just had a reflash done last week, and now my engine light flashes after the wait to start light goes out. Never did it before. It flashes about ten times then shuts off if I don't start it. Now, I just start it after the wait to start light (heater grid symbol) goes off, even though I know the engine light will flash.

So, what does this mean exactly? It's doing it every time, even in warm weather (78 here today). Does it mean I have codes to be checked? Or is this a normal thing with the latest software program (post 05 build dates)? Oh, and mine fires right up. No ten second+ starts here.
