I was a bad. I ran out of diesel on the way to the filling station. I could not get the system to prime after several attempts to bleed the system through the schrader valve.

I was able to get a diesel mechanic out there to get it going.

However, now my engine light is on. I have the PE EZ and tried running it with and without it plugged in.

Any ideas as to how to troubleshoot what this could be?

It is a 2001 ETH DEE.

Mike: you can cycle the key 3 times and the number of the code will appear in the odometer display. Most times it's a generic code p1693. This wont help you if you don't have a scan tool, but if it shows another number you can look it up in the shop manuals. How many miles do you have on the lift pump? Is it a stock lift pump? Chances are the light will disappear after a few starts of the truck, but it's better to be safe than sorry in regards to your lift pump pressures.

Thanks for the responses. It was the P1638 code. After a couple of trips the engine light has done off.

Thanks for the responses.

After we got fuel to the Schrader Valve at the VP44. He crack three of the nuts that connect the fuel lines to the injectors.

AFter he got fuel coming out of those he tightned them up one at a time when fuel was starting to come out.

It finally cranked up.
