Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Engine noise help

I removed vibration damper and engine speed sensor to take off cover to fix KDP and also replaced water pmp. I now have a ticking or clanking noise at idle that sounds like its coming from the lower front of the motor behind the vibration damper. This is on a 1997 12v.

I did not mark my vibration damper or put my belt on first before tightening with torque wrench,could this be the problem. Thanks for any suggestions.

Did you install the speed sensor with . 050 inch clearenace? Marking the damper isn't required, so that isn't it. It's not that hard to pull it off to see if something fell behind it.

Thanks for the reply. Yes we did install the speed sensor with . 050 inch clearenace. Anything else you can think of would make that noise??
