engine noise question.

I have had 99 5.9 s but I have a 05 common rail now , question one....... it has a noise the most I can describe it is like a spark knock. is it normal on a cr? quest 2 when I set tow haul it still goes into overdrive, is this normal? thanks

It's probably an injector that you are hearing . Yes the 05 tow/haul mode work differently than other years . Do you have this bolted up to a 48re? here's a thread to read

Stock injectors rattle, it is in their nature.

TH on an 05 is a true TH with different shift and lockup algorithms, not just an OD off. It will still shift to OD all the time.

My '05 rattles like that, even after new injectors (stock size). I also have a deep knock at idle. Not loud but I can hear it. Done it since day one and still runs


Edit:- Tow haul is working fine. The shift to OD can be a bit annoying but if you let off the go pedal a bit it's better.

Normal, as long as you don't get step down rpm holds it is good.
