Is there way to tell the headlights to turn off always and without any delay upon turning the engine off for the 2006 Ram? Of course I turn the main headlight switch off but that isn't always good enough. I don't wish to remember shut-down sequences such as do this first and then that. I'd like to be able to switch off and headlights and have the headlights off immediately. Like an old fashion switch - off was off; on was on; there was no maybe and sometimes.
Thanks, Wayne (an old coot indeed)

Either turn them off before shutting pickup off or after the pickup is off. Turn lights off, on, then off. I cant remember if there is an option do disable it

IIRC, it IS programmable by the dealer through the OBD port or by the owner the overhead EVIC, though NOT through the overhead OTIS.

That being said finding a dealer that can navigate to the correct menu and adjust might be difficult.

Also, a caveat….might be ONLY the interior cab lights that are adjustable as to how long they stay on after engine shut down.

Simplest thing is to turn off the headlights before shut down.

Looked at my owners manual, if kkkkkkey is turned off then lights turned off they will stay on 90 second. To kill that sequence after it has begun you have to turn ign. back on then off. As stated above, only way to prevent lights from staying on is to turn off light switch then turn off ign. bg

My 2007 has the same feature. I just shut them off before the engine and if I forget, I just switch the lights on again then off. SIMPLE enough. I think the "OPTION" if a personal safety thing to allow you to secure the truck but let you have lights on so you can see to get into your house.

I used my bully dog programmer, you can set it for delay or turn it off, just find someone who has a bully dog programmer and they can do it for you, Monte
