Sad Ford Story

Was at the fuel station today and a guy was filling up his truck next to me while letting it idle. This got me wondering since its not that common anymore. I know that years ago, I always noticed diesels being fueled while idleing. In Texas, as in most states, there must be some regulation on this, but my searches have turned up nothing useful. This makes me even more curious  :D

What up wid this?

diesel is not nearly as combustable as gas and diesels do not have a spark ignition. that's why it is usually not enforced on them.

I think the rule is if you fuel at a diesel only pump you can run your engine. If you fuel at a pump that also pumps gas you need to shut it off. For the reasons lmills said.

Don't forget about the new and/or enforced anti-idling laws. Nevertheless, if it's cold I'm keeping that engine going ticket or not especially with my 3 year old in the truck.

I never shut mine off, the best is in the winter when it high idles after 2 minutes of sitting, if there is anyone in front filling up they usually get a little freaked out when they hear the RPMs start to climb :-laf

I have the same feeling that MBerry does on this, If its cold out and i have say my nephews in the truck or someone else for that matter the truck stays on, ideling law My A**, The way this country is going it won't be to long before you have to take a number just to use your own bathroom.

Well thanks for the amen!!! :D , I actually didn't say anything that the majority of us don't already know, its a fact no sense in beating around the bush is there.

what can i say other than im a firm believer in the truth no matter where it comes from or how is comes out or to whom im may bother, :-laf did i say that hehehe.

I go into the Supermarket, leaving my truck running, go to the Ice House (7-11 to most of y'all), Go just about anywhere, and leave it running... There is no problem fueling, and when there is, I pull the keys out, leave it running, and tell them it will not shut off. . Gotta love the manual shutoff cable trick! hahaha...

I always left mine idle..... wasnt stopped long enough to worry about it anyway..... even at gas/diesel pump combinations--unless somebody was pumping gas on the other side.

I was usually gone in about 3 minutes flat, full load of fuel and debit card payment. (thats with a bigrig nozzle too)

Earp is right... . country is going to hell in a handbag and will need numbers just to get into our houses or bathrooms or to even have conjugal relations.

I let mine idle at the pump when I am on a road trip. If they give me any grief I'll just show them the spot in the manual that suggests a cool down period after highway driving.

Eng off to pump fuel ?

Saves fuel ,safety , and the sign states to turn of Motor ,That translates to internal combustion engine. and the law could be standing there to give you a ticket . Also a child in cab and no adult percent while motor running not a good idea. why take a chance we know the truck will start and that we do not have a sixteen wheeler . I usually leave mine running, and have been asked only twice to shut it off--once in Rocky Mountain Home Alberta, and then a couple weeks ago near Eugene Oregon. The female attendant in Rocky Mountain Home was really cute, so I said "no problem" :) but the guy in Eugene wasn't so good looking :-laf

I shut mine down at fuel up, no problem there. I just have this issue with pple coming up with all this ridiculous idiotic do's and dont's that i have ever seen in my life, Its okay for pple to move in to an area buy up everything and force the price of land up, its also okay for those to move in and if they don't like something decide that because they are there now it bothers them, I live in a rural area we have farms, tractors, manure spreaders, cattle, you name it, we like the simple life and that includes leaving our diesels rattling at our own expense, along with getting up at 400am to work and if we like to take our guns out on the weekend and shoot them. . I say those implementing these idiotic laws think this stuff out before voting on it, for crying out loud, I believe alot of the population has nor does know what common sense is anymore(im sure some of you guys will agree and know what im talking about)

Plus i love the way our senators and elected officials have kept giving themselves the cost of living pay increase while the rest of the country is battling to make ends meet. .

Ok, im done rattling now :-laf , hey you guys gotta know me by now... but as always this is just my opinion and how i see things... Oo.

For the record, I NEVER leave my child in the truck while I am not present. Saves fuel: Yes it does, but doesn't the Cummins engines burn roughly 0. 6 gallons per hour at idle? How much is saved in that 5 minutes or so it takes to fuel up? Safety: No logical or meaningful argument other than what has already been stated. Also, never once did I shut off the tractor to refuel when work needed to be done in the field. Maybe I should have?

I don't know how cold it gets in KY, but here it gets damn cold in winter. Shut the heat off for a couple of minutes in the truck and it gets cold in a hurry.

Just so we are clear, I am not flaming you in any way nor trying to offend. I am simply stating my opinion and my experience.
