I ordered the Fleetguard oil analysis kit from Geno's, but I don't think it's going to be here in time tomorrow for me to do it when I drop my oil (and my oil IS being changed tomorrow, as I leave at 4 am thurs for school again), so my plan is to take the sample and put it in a 20 oz. water bottle (aquafina to be exact) and have my Dad fill the sample container and send it off.
Since I've not taken a sample before, what is the best way to do it? Can I just stick the bottle into the draining stream of oil while it's running into a catch pan? Does it need to be sucked out of the dipstick tube?
This oil will have almost 9000 miles on it, with Fleetguard stratopore filters used and changed at the 5k mark... with my 100,523 mile engine now, and ~450RWHP it should be interesting to see what the results are.
Oh, running Schaeffer's Series 7000 15w-40 synthetic.
