Anyone else had a significant engine oil leak ?

Near as can be discerned, it's on the drivers side of the engine block, near the injector pump.

It does drip a bit, but it mainly seems to burp out a significant amount (ounce or two ?) upon engine shutdown.

I do have the Amsoil Dual by pass, but that's all been checked & it's tight.

I'm grateful for any help you can offer, to say the least.

David B :)

The screws may have vibrated loose. I had a hard to find leak that went away when I tightened the screws in the tappet cover.

thanks !

Hey guys, thanks for the suggestion. It makes sense that might be it, as I imagine a small amount of oil forms a pool in there, and for some reason, upon shutdown, it then all dumps out through the gasket breach (the bolts could well be very loose)

I just shared what you said with my mechanic & he's checking it out now..... thanks to Rammin On & Joe G for their timely help, isn't it amazing what we can do here for each other ? Love the TDR.

I'll report back what he finds

Thanks !

Oil leak

Check the oil supply line going to the injection pump. I recently worked on a truck that was leaking at the injection pump fitting. Its real easy to get at if it is leaking. If that is not the source then check the tappet covers. Pulling the injection pump is not a lot of fun:eek:
