I have 3500 miles on my 06 now.

I will be doing so routine maintenance for the first time very soon.

I do not want to switch to synthetic yet.

Any recommendations on engine oil, oil filter and fuel filter brands?

Any other recommendations (not mentioned) for maintenance I should perform?

Thanks all,

Tony

Any of the above mentioned oils are good recommendations. I've chosen to go with Chevron Delo-400, 15X40, CI-4+. It's available through Costco &, sometimes, Sam's Club, at reasonable prices. The "Delo" has a nice dose of Moly that coats the metal surfaces & provides a little extra protection.

I've done oil analysis on the last two changes (8000 mile intervals) & the oil is still in good shape. The premature first oil change is probably not a bad idea, though.

I like using Fleetguard products (same as Mopar but, cheaper) since they are approved by Cummins & DC. From a warranty standpoint, I'd prefer to use Cummins/DC approved filters.

Whatever oil you choose, be sure its a "diesel-rated, CI-4+" oil. The name-brand oils are all good. You can't go wrong with any of the afore mentioned ones.

A bit from each of the above posts: I use Delo 400 because I can get it at Costco, but not as cheap as it used to be. I just bought a case for $48 (6 gallons). The other reason I like the Delo 400 is because the bottle is a pretty blue color. Hey, it's as good of a reason as most other people have. Get the 4/2/1 filter kit from Genos.

I heard an ad on Fox Talk Radio on Sirius this morning for Delvac 1. Interesting that they would market it to such a broad audience, but not stock it in any retail stores. What's up with that?

CI+4 isn't all that necessary on the isb's as we have no egr system. . anything diesel rated past CH grade will work well [heck, CG or CF would work well too... ]

and CI is about to go away too. . CJ/CJ+4 is on the way already...

Genos' also sells a nice low profile, 3/8" drive, fuel filter socket. I recommend it. Keep a spare fuel filter in your truck, and carry the tools needed to change it.

You might want to consider a secondary 2 micron filter for the fuel. I think

the injectors on these HPCR engines are rather finnicky.

Geno's for filters and Costco for Delo. Also, use a large freezer bag to encase the oil filter. The filter comes out from the bottom. Being careful to keep the freezer bag in place I don't spill one drop when removing the old filter.

I just checked Genos, and the kits do not have the new 7 micron fuel filter,

so if you want one of the new ones, you would have to buy the filters

seperately. I am thinking Donaldson for the oil filter, the micron ratings seem to

be better than the stratopore. . Still researching.
