Took my new 2006 Ram into the Dodge dealer in Tucson for it's first oil change. I found out after returing home (2000 miles) that they overfilled my crankcase about 1 qt overfill. I know this is a no-no. Any way to know if any damage was done? And, what recourse do I have with the offinding dealer?

not to scare you but keep a close eye on that oil level. the dealer only puts in 3 gallons of oil. thats what the trucks take. if the level keeps rising you need to shut down immediately it could be a bad injector. just a word of caution.

I was concerned about overfilling from posts here, and the owners manual which says not to operate the engine out of the safe zone on the stick.

more oil means on wet sump can take away Horsepower on a race engine but only the expensive nextel cup motors are worried about the 0. ##### loss of horsepower. The only problem I can see you having a production engine in a street vehicle is not having to top it off.

Just a thought, but could it be that they changed your oil and not your filter? It might pay you to look real close and make sure they didn't just wipe it off.

Geeze, Seems like I don't trust anyone
