I'm looking at installing a guage to monitor the engine oil temperature in my 98. 5 - 24 V.
One location for the temp sensor I am considering is the spare 1/8 NPT plug on the top of the engine oil filter mount. Has anyone installed there oil temp sensor at this location. If so, what are your typical temp readings?
What other locations have been used for the oil temp sensor.
Any comments about this or other locations
for the sensor are welcome and appreciated.

Thanks

I'm also very intereseted in this. I've seen both the 1/8 NPT and the dip stick attachable sensors (?). Which is best? I'll be having the 6-speed transmission.

I put mine in the top of the oil filter housing, it reads about 185-190 there. I have a sensor in my auto transmission too. I ran both probes throuth an "on-on" switch, and can use one guage for both readings. Just toggle left or right.

Ooops! I meant to say that I am interested in a tranmission oil temperature sensor. Where does it go (perhaps under a different topic).
