A-Pillar Triple Gauge Install

When pulling my 5ver up a steep grade the LED engine oil temp guage sometimes goes to 235. Sender is located in top right side of head right above the oil filter. Is this normal, to hot or what?

I heard oil temps run about 10-15F warmer than coolant temp. The differential may be greater when working hard but 235 sounds like it's getting up there.

Kent Earnest runs an oil temp gauge and tows pretty heavy, maybe he'll chime in.

chobbs, 235°F does seem a bit on the high side. I believe that Cummins recommends not exceeding 220°F when sensing oil temp at the filter.

I am picking up the temp at the same place you are and I have seen as high as 215°F when towing 14K lbs up a steep mountain grade with ambient temps ~85° and the A/C on. I believe that your oil temp would run a tad higher with a auto trans cooler in the mix. I am running a 180° T-Stat and when running empty at highway speeds I see the oil temp at 10-15 degrees higher than the engine temp.
