Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) engine pops????

01 3500 5spd edge ez ddIII's ..... egine will pop every now and then mostly at idle but occasionaly when driving i have noticed when it pops at idle a puff of smoke will come out any ideas on what causes this box not working right? injector sticking open? pump going bad??

Uh whats your fuel pressure??? Have a friend with a 99 that his motor started popping and it was starving for fuel!! He had a FASS but no fuel pressure gauge and he blew the fuse and was running with no fuel pressure - ouch! changed the fuse and all was good but could have taken life outa his vp44!!
