I recently purchased a 92 D-250 2wd 5-speed, for a second truck (for work and play) I have been have having some trouble with the engine running rough under accelleration. It wants to stumble and has low power. It seems as if it is starving for fuel, or getting air in some place in the fuel system -- I plan on starting with the fuel filter. Does anyone know if 1st Gen trucks have the same fuel strainer screen in the lift pump as the 94-98 models do? Any other suggestions on the problem?

Probably sucking in some air... ..... as these pumps will seem to operate just fine at moderate power levels with a weak lift pump.

Partially plugged filter restricting fuel flow.

If it's pulling in air, it will generally be difficult to start.
