Engine running while fueling

Has anybody installed a surface mounted TC on the center housing rotating group - between the compressor hsg & turbine hsg - to record metal temps? this would be the hot ticket (no pun intended #ad
) for the shut down module.

When I worked at Garrett Turbos the techs had to wait at least 30 mins before they could remove a turbo from the test stand - the turbo - wheels, turbine housing, center housing/bearings - is a HUGE thermal mass (relative to the TC) and takes quite a long time to cool down enough for handling - even with welding gloves.

If I remember correctly, the time constant of type K TC is less than 1 second.

I think you can do it with your diesel but don't try it with your gasser. The technician at my cadillac dealer said you will burn out the EGR valve by doing so.

I'm glad to hear that 1/3 the population in Hemet has one of these beasts.

For the record I try to shut mine down as soon as I feel the temp is O. K. Love the truck but don't relish standing next to it while it's running any more than the guy in the gasser next to me.

Nobody has remote keyless entry? It will not let you lock the doors while running!

A little advice, NEVER give a crook anything as tempting as a running truck like ours! It's a bad feeling looking at a empty space where your baby was just parked!

The factory Remote Keyless on my '98. 5 locked the doors while the engine was running. The darned aftermarket POS alarm/keyless unit I have in my new truck doesn't, so I hit the lock button and have to use the key to open it. I NEVER walk off with it UNLOCKED while running!!!
