It sounds more like the solenoid or the linkage is binding. Usually when they go bad they don't pull on or won't hold on so the truck won't run. Watch the solenoid with the engine running and have someone turn the key off for you. It should drop right away. If it's slow then it's binding somewhere. If it drops right away but the shutdown is still delayed you may have an internal problem in your pump.
I just got done removing my fuel solenoid and removing what was left of the boot that covered it. It had turned in to a big gooey mess and was stuck in and to the solenoid spring and plunger... works fine now... ...
