Engine Shutdown Timer

I thought I would share my little project with the group.

In our KW truck, there is a timer you can turn on, shut the key off, and the motor will continue to run until the timer runs out. The timer goes from 0 to 15 min.

I decided to put one of these in my truck , so I went to KW and ordered up the timer for $60. There are 2 wires that attach to the back and all you have to do is hook one to a battery hot and the other to the ignition wire that goes to the engine compartment. When the timer is turned on, it bypasses the ignition and lets the motor run until time is expired. The timer face is about the same size as a gauge. This is a great way to let your truck cool down on its own without having to wait there in the truck.

I wonder if one has to worry about backfeed especially on these computerized systems.

I will try to get some pics tommorrow. Any KW place and probably any Peterbilt place would have them. The part number is 71239P. I would think this would work on any motor without problems.
