Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) engine shuts off when driving

I have a 01 24 v and the engine will shut off when driving down the road

or sometimes just trying to start it, it will just turn over. It throws a code that say miss communication with ecm. Has any body had this problem?

Sounds like vp 44 time

Never heard of the VP completely shutting the engine down like that.

Could be an ignition switch. Try fiddleing with the key when the truck is ideling to see if it is worn out.

My '02 did the same thing shortly after I bought it. Complete loss of power and tach goes to 0. I'd coast to a stop and it would take a few minutes to get it started again.



Turned out to be a Throttle Position Sensor.
