Was driving to work this morning doing about 69 with the cruise control on. I was going up a hill when all of a sudden the engine started missing a little bit. It would lose a little power when it missed, then drive fine. Five or 10 seconds later it did it again. This lasted about ten minutes then was fine after that. All gauges were good. Any idea what it might be? It has also been raining alot here and a little damp. First time I experienced this. Truck is a 2003 HO, 10500 miles. I'll drain the fuel filter tonight. Any other thoughts?

Thanks.

Try pulling codes off the computer. You can do that by cycling the ignition three times witout starting the motor(on-off-on-off-on). On the third time leave the key in the on position and the code numbers will flash on the odometer. You might have a bad connection on one of your sensors. If so the moisture probably got into it and is causing erratic readings.

Checked to see if there were any codes set and there were not. Truck was fine tonight on the way home, cruise control and all. Maybe a sensor got damp.

I talked to a cummins rep. He recommends adding a fuel lubricity type additive to help lubrictate the pump. We have been finding that the fuel control actuator is sticking. more so on early 03 and04. If that doesn't work take it in and tell them to fix it. It sounds like loosing fuel pressure temporarily. Iv'e worked on a couple of them doing just what you described.

2 Stroke Oil

Ive been using alil bit of good quality 2 stroke oil for lubricity.

1/2-1 quart per Full tank works for me.

yeh 2 strokes oil works well. but he rec "hause" spelling could be wrong on that, he also said cummins make some, try local truck shop, better prices for more quanity. Your dealer should carry some if you like dealer prices, most auto parts stores carry them and if you read the back of them it will say when manufactures approve of them.
