Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Engine Swap?

My father needs to replace his engine in his 99 it has a 5 speed manual transmision 4x4. Will a cummins engine from another truck that has an automatic transmission bolt right up to the manual transmission in his truck?

I can't answer your question directly, but I had to change engines in my '99 and bought a 2002 ISB from Cummins that came out of a street sweeper. I simply moved my bell housing, flywheel, and other specific parts from my old engine. It worked fine and is running great almost 2 years later.
