According to the manual... . adjustments should only be made when the engine coolant temperature is less than 140 F.

I do not have access to a shop manual for vavle adjustment and have a few questions:

1. Do I need to be able to turn over the engine by hand to move to the proper position in order to adjust valves? If so, how do you guys do this? With the higher compression of the diesel I think it would be tough!

2. What is the adjustment sequence and where do I read TDC at?

3. What is the gap for intake and exhaust valves?

4. What size allen wrench do you use? and what size nut is used to lock the allen screw in place?

I guess I will need a manual to identify which ones are intake and which are exhaust as well...

Is there anywhere online that has a walk through of how to do this? Cash is a bit tight right now and I cannot afford a manual. Maybe someone could fax / email me copies of the instructions?

Thanks

Phil

-Lash on the intake valves is between 0. 006" and 0. 015"

-Lash on the exhaust is between 0. 015" and 0. 030"

TDC is located on the pump gear behind the crankcase blowby hose. The round thingy that the hose comes out of... ... give it a turn counterclockwise and pull it off and out of the way to reveal the mark.

I'm retorqueing the head and setting valve lash tommorrow! ;)
