My truck runs 165 in the summer and 145 in the winter. Is there a way to turn up the heat or does it matter? I'm afraid that I'm running too cold.

I've had 4 changes and they all do the same thing. I think the truck isn't getting warm enough to open the thermostat.

Dr. Bob,

I bought my 96 new and the 165 in the summer is about what am seeing. Your 145 in the winter may be a little low. Seeing where you are located you may wat to consider using some grill covers to warm it up in the winter.

When I bought my 96 I welcomed the low temps. My 88 GMC gasser always got hot while towing. Never had that problem with this one.

I see you have the Horton,as do I. You do not need to remove your fan in winter. If it is operating correctly it will not come on till over 200 degrees. Like I said earlier check your gauge . My 94 looks like it is running cooler than it is. These gauges are not linear. On the gauge mine is at the first line, with an external gauge this checks out to be 175 degrees.

I've had it shot with a gun that's how I know it's running 165. I wonder if the rings are seating running as cold as I am.
