its blow-by from the engine. with that much boost i would think that some blowby gasses would escape.
 
100" of what? water or mercury?



100" of mercury is just under 50psig

100" of water is 3. 6psig

100" of water is also 7. 4" of mercury



and what are they measuring with that 100"? [i guess you need to know aircraft engines for that?]
 
It's Manifold pressure guys unless I dun fell off my rocker again :) Boost. As in of mercury of air into the engine cylinders. The engine has a gear driven supercharger up there in the nose behind the gear drive for the prop. That is how all these old engines are monitored to determine throttle position. The rpm is prop speed not engine speed.



Aircraft is very different and I don't understand why they make things so complicated. Why not just use boost psi and engine rpm's like we do? Then again the engine oil blowing out is normal from what I have seen. Weird.
