Ok guys, heres one for ya. I had a pretty loud tick, almost sounded like an injector. At a certain throttle position, no matter what speed, the tick would appear again, only really fast. It would happen when I would push the motor just a little bit. I could also hear it at idle but just faint. Took my Edge Juice off, and took it to the dealer to clear some fan clutch related codes that were caused by the mechanic leaving the fan connector unplugged after replacing my injector pump. He reflashed, and the tick is suddenly gone. Riddle me this, is it possible that the Edge Juice could have forced my ECM to change the timing curve for some reason? Or, should the dealer mechanic have reflashed after the new injector pump change?

I'd be interested if you find anything. I've noticed a tick in mine the past week or so too at light throttle.

Same here, seeing as how I'm at 100k now, I'm going to do a valve adjustment and see what happens.

I have had a tick or knock in mine from time to time. Truck was in a couple of weeks ago for valve adjustment, injector noise and an idle problem. Valves were all dead on. Mechanic told me noise and idle problem may be from a dirty injector and that DC's response was to try some expensive injector cleaner first which was on my nickel as it is normal maintenance. They put in a can of the cleaner and told me to drive it and see what happens. So far the problems seem to be getting better. There is less noise and the idle problem is slowly improving. I got a couple of extra cans of the cleaner and I will use them when I will be towing and doing a lot of driving. I have been using Howes Meaner Cleaner all along but either it is not good enough or I did not use enough. I have some Redline diesel product coming in a day or two. Supposedly the guys using it have had good results. I think a lot of my fuel problems came with the truck as the truck was a real pooch from the get go until I changed the first fuel filter. That thing was a plugged mess. I have been running the Edge EZ and the Quadzilla Xillerator (not at the same time) and they will throw in some different sounds or rattles. This may not be of much help to you but this has been my experience with it.

I had the dealer reflash and now the rattle/tick is erroneous. definetly not as loud as it was before but it still appears every now and then.

I have a ticking sound in my truck when the engine is "COLD", after it gets up to operating temp it goes away. If it stays warm outside all day it never does it again, until the next morning. It does not sound like valves, but it could be the injectors??

Adjust the valves, & Set em a with pleanty of drag on the feeler guage.

I thought about the valves, but it really doesn't have that valve sound! Plus the truck only has 50K, which would seem a bit early for valve adjustment. I am going to have to take the truck to the dealer and have them check it out.

I think you will find that the ticking is from a little too much fuel being injected on the first pulse (small, large, small) from gunk building up on the injector tips and causing a slightly longer than normal injector opening.

Had to put some #2 diesel in it since it was very cold where I fueled up and presto... ... tick is gone. In town, no one has # 2 so I think the tick is a combination of #1 and cold weather.

So is there something I could add to the fuel to correct this problem? Have used Marvel Mystery oil in the past with great results. I am spending the winter in Az so I know that it is getting to cold and they use #2 fuel here. Yesterday after running the truck early morning, it didn't move all day until 5 Pm. But the ticking never came back!
